Art Poster

Each year for over three decades, the Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission’s annual art poster has showcased a different, talented local artist. This tradition lives on in 2013. Poster donations help support the Commission’s mission and programs: fostering public participation, increasing access, and forging alliances in support of local arts, culture and history.

2013 Art Poster

This year’s poster features a print, Crabapple by Madison artist Jayne Reid Jackson. It is indicative of Jackson’s body of work with its precision of line and subtle use of color to create a delicate rendering of glass and flora. Her use of pattern as graphic elements juxtaposed with the natural make her work more than just a representation of plant and vessel, but as she describes, "capture(s) what is special about everyday objects and the intrinsic beauty of the commonplace."

This lovely poster (18” x 26.5”) features creative design by Lois Bergerson and production with financial support from Alliant Energy.

Artist Jayne Reid Jackson

Jayne Reid Jackson was born and raised in the Milwaukee area and attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she graduated with a BS in Art. She made Madison her home and continued to pursue her art through various classes and commissions. In 1992 she joined a private print workshop, AGB Graphics, and began work in intaglio and monotype. In 2004 she opened her home studio and is most widely known for her mezzotints.

Her work has been consistently accepted into national and international print shows and she is a member of several print societies across the US. She is an active member of the International Mezzotint Society and was recently accepted as a member of the Society of American graphic Artists.
